Leave the A1(M) at Junction 61 signposted for Spennymoor & Bishop Auckland and Durham Motorway Services.

After leaving the motorway take the second exit towards Bishop Auckland (A688).

At the first roundabout, again take the second exit signposted Bishop Auckland and continue ahead at each of the next five roundabouts towards Bishop Auckland on the A688.

400yds after the fifth roundabout you will come to a right turn signposted to Binchester (almost opposite a TOTAL Service Station). There is a large white/brown tourist sign to Binchester Roman Fort. Turn right here and you will find FIVE GABLES approximately 300yds from this junction in the first cul-de-sac on the left.
